The Sum of all Parts, 2023

THE ARTWORK

The Sum of All Parts is a San Diego-inspired mural featuring a geometric abstraction of the city's geography, wildlife, landmarks, and natural phenomena. With seabirds, local architecture, and sunset-inspired colors, it pays homage to the city's diverse beauty and lifestyle, capturing its essence in a rich tapestry.

THE ARTIST

Aaron Glasson (b. 1983) is a highly skilled artist with over 11 years of professional experience, specializing in large-scale, site-specific murals, installations, and sculptures that are uplifting, imaginative, and deeply researched. With a strong belief in the power of public art as a collaborative process, Aaron approaches each project by thoroughly studying the area, environment, history, and future vision. Working closely with mural commissioners and communities, he actively seeks feedback and engagement to address their needs. A passionate advocate for the positive impact of murals on mental health, Aaron creates artworks that act as mirrors of diverse communities, weaving in local stories and fostering connections to the natural world and each other. While his recent work has shifted from highly detailed figurative art to abstraction, the underlying ethos of his practice remains unchanged. The public art opportunities at RaDD perfectly align with Aaron's motivations and artistic goals.

The Sum of all Parts is located at the Vida building, along Waterfront Place.
